Essay Sweeps Week
Now, this week, we have to work, like, super hard. You need to come to class prepared to get the most of our work sessions and here is a functional plan, I think, if you follow it, you will be ready to get this essay written and ready to be submitted on TURN IT IN.com by MONDAY, APRIL 21st (almost one to two weeks after every other ENG4U class). With this increase in time, I hope you honour my efforts by putting in a great deal of work to get the most out of these lessons.
1.FIRST - FILL OUT THIS FORM AND HAVE IT FINISHED BY TUESDAY.
2. Finish it all the way to the end, but it is up to you which station and when you wish to be at in class for Tuesday and Wednesday. I highly recommend you work your (blank)-off so you can rotate through all stations, maybe doing the RESEARCH LAB station at home.
** This week is all about peer editing, feedback, and getting all the support you can so you don't feel so alone while writing this essay.
Below are all the descriptions for the stations to help you get through the planning stages during ESSAY PLANNING SWEEPs WEEK.

HOW TO DO RESEARCH WITH SCHOLARLY JOURNALS
The following presentations and files are in response to the work you have done this week in researching journals. I feel that not all of you have a solid understanding of how to do the following items:
i) how to come up with an argument ii) how to read the journal and use it to help you create an argument iii) how to read a journal searching for key words and ideas iv) how to fill in and make use of the research submission form v) how to utilize points from the journal and then retrieve some from the novel vi) how to marry the ideas of the journal, novel, and your own thinking together. vii) how to write out an argument with everything together, and finally viii) doing citations. |
